This course is intended to help turbine package project managers and engineers plan, draft contracts and coordinate the multiple parties involved to achieve a smooth installation campaign, free of delays, extra costs, contractual issues and messy problem-causing interfaces.
We'll explore the key ingredients of a turbine installation campaign: the port(s), the vessels and the OEM, focusing on understanding where risks to the project lie and how to avoid them with preparation, basic checks and sound contracts.
As part of this course participants will also gain a thorough understanding of the technical underpinnings of such a campaign, from how a jack up works to the technical considerations relevant to transporting and installing each of the components.
Note: the content of this course is based on installation of 15MW - 21MW turbines, it will highlight factors that may not be relevant or applicable to smaller turbines sizes.
Level: Industry or prior technical knowledge is not essential. However, participants with a basic knowledge of turbines and offshore wind farm development may get more from it.
Format: Online self-directed learning, spanning 7 hrs of in-depth videos split into easily digestible 10-20 min topic segments and accompanied by helpful PDF downloads and examples allowing you to progress at your own pace and dip in-and-out as work commitments allow.
